One of the few movies I never get tiered of, being from Maryland
and have relitives from Hampstead, Maryland the subject never came up
yet we were at the door of one of the biggest battles in United States
history. I wounder how our future would be today had General Lee won
that battle ?

I am a native of Hanover County, Virginia. My family has lived on and farmed the
land since Hanover was founded. Both my great-grandfathers fought for the Confederacy.
One of them, Henry Tate was at Gettysburg. He was a member of "Harrison's Guards", and
fought as part of Pickets division. When I saw the movie the first time, I was finally
able to feel what he must have felt. I am looking forward to the next movie, " Gods and Generals "

The movie Gettysburg was a great movie, and worth seeing. The part that I love the
most is when Lee is on his horse and the Confederates are shouting Lee, and shaking his hand.
My advice to all you people is to watch this movie, it is great, long, but great, and the way
they made Jeff Daniels look like Joshua Lawrence Chaimberlain looked like Jeff Daniels ancestor
was Joshua L. Chamberlain. Lee and Longstreet were looking exactly like the pics described
them (At the beggining of the movie). Rent this movie before buying.

My interest in the movie Gettysburg motivated me to get intoreenacting.
I currently do a civilian impression and musician.I did work as an extra on
Gods and Generals. The movie Gettysburg had a great music soundtrack. I am interested
in finding out the name of the fife and drum piece played over the events leading up to
General Reynold's death. Any help on finding the name of that piece of music would
be appreciated. Thank you

I've watched this movie many many times, drawing from research and extensive study of
the battle field itself. Other than a few areas of discreption and due only to laws and
regulations covering hallowed ground the movie was brillant in fact and accuracy. Gods
and Generals should shed much light on the lives of all those involved pre Gettysburg.
Although Buster is in fact fiction he displays the feelings and emotions that most of those
men and boys of 63 had. Any one who wants the full feeling of what it must have been like
during those years owe it to themselves to go to a reenactment, Gettysburg being one of the top picks.

Gettysburg is a true icon in Civil War history. The movie depics all the events
and moments perfectly. I love how well the scenes were made for the Battle of Little
Round Top, truely excellent. Jeff Daniels was the perfect choice of character to play
Colonel Chamberlain's role. Whenever I watch the movie I feel that he really IS Colonel
Chamberlain in real life. All other actors did an equally awsome job on their roles as
well. Gettysburg is a MUST SEE movie and should be seen by all who study the Civil War.
And today is the 139th anniversary of the first day at Gettysburg where the two sides met
along with tomorrow and Wednesday.

The movie "Gettysburg" is about what our ancestors did while fighting in
the Civil War, I know first hand about the expierences of battle and the will
to drive on cause I'm a Civil War Re-enactor. The battle of Gettysburg was the
turning tide of the whole war, the CSA thought they could destroy the Union by
attacking somewhere up north into Pennsylvania. Lee thought that the Union would
fall and a letter was to be placed in front of Abraham Lincoln offering peace
(as the movie quite put it). But the Union forces drove them out of the town and
back to Virginia, thus it was clearly a Union victory. My great uncle fought at
Gettysburg and I'm proud that part of my family is someway connected to the town t
hat was forever changed on July 1st, 2nd and 3rd, 1863. Those who died will not be
forgotten, of those who died gave us freedom so all could live.

Gettysburg was a great movie. Enjoyed the pictures and songs from Gettysburg.
For those who create websites, I believe your material and website will encourage
more people to see the movie. Gettysburg is quite long, but worth seeing!!:-)
